I’ve watched far too many documentaries about climbers on Everest and there are so many of them that they’ve nearly become a genre all to themselves. As with any other genre, certain cliches have developed over time. I’ve taken many of these and put them into an Everest Documentary bingo card to alleviate the monotony that comes from watching some of the less original documentaries.

Rampage Jackson arrested for a hit and run

So MMA fighter Rampage Jackson was apparently arrested for a felony hit and run.

Former mixed martial arts light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has been arrested after a series of collisions allegedly involving the pickup truck he was driving in Orange County.

Police say Jackson was booked for investigation of felony evading, hit and run and reckless driving. Bail was set at $25,000.

Police received a report of an accident on the 55 Freeway near 19th Street in Costa Mesa involving a large pickup truck that had struck other vehicles and fled the scene.

A Costa Mesa officer spotted the pickup getting involved in another collision and fleeing toward Newport Beach. The pickup, which had a tire disabled in the collisions, was pulled over in Newport Beach. Police say Jackson was taken into custody without incident.

I’m not posting this because I really care about the news. Sure I like watching MMA from time to time, but I don’t really follow it or know a lot about the fighters (except that I hate Tito Ortiz). The reason I’m posting this is because I came across a picture:

When fleeing from the police, it’s probably best not to do so in a truck that has your picture stuck to the side of it. I wonder how that Toyo tires sponsorship is going to work out for him.

I have a huge amount of respect for bands like the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith that had huge drug and alcohol problems and never canceled tours and went to rehab because of them. That being said, my respect for Keith Richards just went up another 100%

“She should get her act together,” the former junkie said during a round-table interview at the Berlin International Film Festival on Friday to promote Martin Scorsese’s Rolling Stones documentary “Shine a Light.”

The often-addled rocker paused, then added: “Apart from that, I have got nothing to say to the b****.”

About a year before I joined my current company, rumor has it that the author of the following paper walked into our offices and sat down for a talk with one of our employees. The topic of discussion? Apparently the grand unification theory. The story also goes that he seemed very excited about his discovery and eager to tell anyone who would listen, even some random employee he found in an office at a struggling wireless internet service provider. There’s nobody left at my company who remembers the guy directly, but a poster tube containing two copies of the paper he left behind has been sitting in my office for the past few years. I came across it again after a recent cleaning and decided to post it on the internets.
